Hannah Sanderson

My name is Hannah Sanderson and I am a junior.  I came to Oakmont this year from Casa Roble.  I used to write fictional stories when I was little. The first book i wrote, “The Bird Shop” was one of my favorites. I decided to join Norse Notes because I am talented in writing,  plus reading comes easily to me. I hope to learn some new abilities from this class that I can use in the future.  In my free time,  I like to relax and enjoy a good book. I plan to push myself to work hard senior year, then going off to college after graduation. I hope to be accepted at Humboldt University, or Whitworth University  which is located in Spokane, Washington.

Kristen Sedivy

My name is Kristen Sedivy I’m a junior at Oakmont.  I have gone to Oakmont all three years so far.  I decided to join Journalism and Norse Notes because I love reading and thought the writing might come easily as well.  I am usually babysitting my cousins and spending time with my best friend.  I thought since being in this class is all about writing it would also help me in my English class this year.

Micaela Mercer

I’m Micaela, and I am a junior this year. This semester I am not only writing for the Norse Notes, but I am also taking IB English, IB History, and H Spanish 4. After college I want to work for the Department of Justice as a federal prosecutor.  I joined the Norse Notes to help my writing and to make new friends.  Pretty much, my whole life is spent reading. When I’m not doing homework or reading, I am working with 7th and 8th graders at my church or volunteering with National Charity League. In the little free time I have, I watch  “Once Upon a Time”, “Revenge”, “Criminal Minds”, and “CSI”. Oh, and I’m obsessed with the Harry Potter site “Pottermore”. I am a triplet and I have a younger sister whose is in eighth grade this year.

Tiyana Dorsey

My name is Tiyana, and I’m a junior here at Oakmont. My biggest obsession is Spanish; it is such a beautiful language. My greatest ambition in life is to travel so I can expand my view of the world. I am an IB student, which basically means I have no social life. Whenever I do happen to get some free time, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music and reading. Fantasy, horror and realistic fiction are my favorite genres. This is my first semester on the Norse Notes staff. I joined journalism because I heard it was a fun class, one that allowed a lot of interaction with other students. I am a pretty good writer so I figured it would be a perfect fit.

Rachel Wendt

I’m Rachel Wendt: senior, staff writer, and literary extraordinaire. I joined Norse Notes in order to practice and hone my writing skills and find a vehicle to publicly express my opinions on . . . well, everything. I am a second-year member of the Oakmont High School Theatre Company (maybe you’ve seen me in some of our shows?) and love acting almost as much as I love writing. I mostly write reviews–I see it as my solemn duty as an arts student to fire at will at the crimes committed daily by Hollywood and hacks against the world of good entertainment. To that end, my big plan is to study creative writing in college, major in English, and write and publish a novel within the next five years. One that doesn’t suck. I also love history and learning about cultures around the world–it inspires me. So, I also plan to study abroad in Europe. And, when I have time, maybe I’ll actually get around to getting my driver’s license and doing normal teenage things.

Jazmyne Short

I’m  Jazmyne Short (spelled that way because my mother wanted me to “stand out”, which is really the last thing I ever wanted) and I am currently a sophomore here at Oakmont. It’s my first year being a part of the Norse Notes team, an endeavor I took on because my friend, Molly Berg, fell in love with being a part of the newspaper. Writing is the only thing  I’ve ever really felt I had a knack for, but I didn’t think I’d develop a passion for the journalism so fast!  My goals in life are to join the Peace Corps and to convince General Mills to sell Count Chocula every month of the year, instead of just October. I’m afraid of strawberries, I’m a huge Bill Murray fan, and I hope to marry into a predominantly Irish family.

Karlie Garcia

My name is Karlie and I am a senior this year at Oakmont. I am a cross country and track runner, so basically, I love to run! I have been running for Oakmont in both cross country and track for all four years and I plan on continuing my running career in college. I love to spend time outdoors (when the weather is nice and sunny!) and spend time with my friends and family. This is my first year in Journalism and I took this class because I am interested in writing in a new style. I thought it might be an exciting change to veer away from writing in an essay style all the time (like in English class), and write in a journalistic way.

Grace Young

I am Grace Young; one of the editors of Norse Notes. I’m a 17 year old senior here at Oakmont. I plan on furthering my education over the next few years and becoming a teacher.  I took Journalism for the first time last year and found that I really enjoy it. I hope students who are taking this class for the first time find the same passion that I and many others share for writing and informing our peers.

Molly Berg

My name is Molly Berg; I am the Editor-in-Chief of our newspaper, the Norse Notes. I have been in Journalism for three terms now and look forward to many more. I have always been fond of writing, mostly fiction. I took this class in hopes to explore the different writing methods and increase my knowledge in writing. After high school I would like to continue on with my writing and major in either English or journalism, but until then I would like to offer all I have to Norse Notes. Both the other editors and I have high expectations for our paper and plan to expand on new ideas and methods of writing. I am very adamant on keeping the Viking traditions alive and hope for them to never die out here at Oakmont. I hope you enjoy our paper and it provides you with new and sufficient knowledge.

Lexi Takata

I’m Lexi, and I am a senior this year (finally!) which means I’ve been writing about myself a lot lately for college apps. This semester I am one of the three editors of the Norse Notes; I decided to join because I enjoy writing and have always been curious about the publishing process, which is why I am excited to be helping take the paper online this year. I love traveling and reading. I would tell you what I do in my “free time”, but that would imply that I have a lot of free time and I try not to lie.

Karisa Guettler

I’m Karisa Guettler, a junior in my second semester of journalism. I am very passionate about writing and journalism and it happens to be one of my top career choices. I have participated in Track and Field for four years and recently finished eight years of recreational soccer. Every moment of free time is spent playing my guitar and writing songs. I hope to someday to inspire others with my passion. Another hobby I love would be photography. I have not yet taken an official class, but my brother has been teaching me over the years. My number one goal in life is to learn to play the banjo and see the band Mumford and Sons live in concert.
